LEHMAN TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY- One person is dead and five others are in critical condition after a multi-vehicle crash in Luzerne County.

It happened along Route 118 near Fedor Road in Lehman Township. Police said around 11:00 Wednesday morning a tractor trailer slammed into an SUV when it stopped to make a turn. The truck then collided with two other cars. Three medical helicopters were called to fly the injured to a trauma center.

Michael Buerger saw it all happen. Buerger said, "This lady in the Blazer was making a turn onto Fedor Road. The tractor trailer obviously didn't see her blinker or whatever and swiped her. It ran head-on into another car and then hit the silver Dodge Intrepid. Parts and dust were flying everywhere."

Route 118 has been closed while police investigated the crash. It is expected to be closed at least until 6:30 Wednesday evening.

There's no word if any charges will be filed.
