WAVERLY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- State police are investigating an early morning crash in Lackawanna County that ended up splitting a utility pole and injuring at least one person.

Two people were in a car traveling on Carbondale Road in Waverly just before 7:00 A. M. The vehicle smashed into an outdoor barrier wall on someone's property and slammed into a utility pole, severing it and taking down power lines in the process.

The roadway was closed for a while between Madison Lane and Route 407. At least one of the people inside the car was transported to the hospital. The cause of the crash is not known at this time.
