Hughesville, Lycoming County-

Fun, food, and entertainment are taking center stage in Hughesville with the return of the 139th annual Lycoming County Fair.

The stands are in place and vendors are setting up their displays to entice fairgoers of all ages.

Glenn Kepner, of Hughesville, is working hard to show off his carefully crafted, hand-made keepsakes.

Kepner explained, “I made big lawn ornaments at one time. Then as the years went by I thought, you know, I want to make something small the people can carry around at the fair.”

You can pretty much find it all here- from games and crafts of all varieties, to plenty of rides the little ones can enjoy.

Kepner noted, “A family has four or five children; they can come in here now and have a good time and ride the rides, or go around and eat.”

Ahh yes, the food! Something to tempt the taste buds of everyone who stops by, like here at Trout Pond Park owner Frank Pidcoe’s stand.

Pidcoe said, “Well you can find our famous broasted chicken, fresh-cut French Fries, old-fashioned soda, the Hank’s Soda which is well-known in the area.”

Many of these vendors’ profits stay right here in the area.

Pidcoe explained, “Part of the proceeds will be going back into the park to help get it back into shape, and also 20% of the proceeds will be going to the Huntersville Methodist Church to help them out also.”

And of course, everyone you meet here has their own favorite part of the historic fair.

Pidcoe added, “The food and the people- I mean this is the easiest way to meet all your friends and see people you haven’t seen in years.”

You can check out all the exciting action at the fair from now through July 25th. Admission to the Lycoming County Fair is only $5.00 per person, which includes the midway shows and mechanical carnival rides.
