LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Police in Lackwanna County are looking into a cold case. A unsolved murder case of a new born back in 1965. On Wednesday, police will exhume the baby’s body.
It’s a case that shocked the area. Who could kill a baby and throw it into an outhouse?
.Now police think may be able to track down the killer, by using new technology..
The baby’s identity was never learned. Now police say they know the sex of the infant
The baby was strangled to death in May of 1965. Its small body found in an outside bathroom in Lehigh Township , that's near Thornhurst. Detectives tell the I-Team’s Andy Mehalshick they believe the case can be solved.
Lackawanna County District Attorney Andy Jarbola
told us "We decided to exhume the body and do D N. A. Testing to find out identity of person. In the initial investigation we had several potential families that could have baby could have come from. We want to identify the child through D. N.A. And proceed from there."
. The baby is buried in an unmarked grave at the Fairview Memorial Park , near Moscow .
