HAZLE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY- Despite the rough economy, hundreds of jobs are headed to Hazle Township, Luzerne County. The announcement was made Friday morning in the United States Cold Storage facility in the Humboldt Industrial Park.

Scott Bonar is one of 30 employees at U. S. Cold Storage. He's about to have about 200 new co-workers. "Good news, a lot of opportunity. Looking for a lot good guys. A lot of work, a lot of work," said Bonar.

U. S. Cold Storage stores and distributes frozen foods. The new jobs will come at the beginning of next year when a new warehouse will be built right next to the existing one.

Most of the new workers will have to work in -5 degree temperatures. Cynthia Schultz has worked at this warehouse since it was built two years ago. "We want to build it and start bringing a lot more people in and see a lot more construction. It's very exciting watching it grow," said Shultz.

Cold Storage owners says Humbolt Industrial Park is a perfect fit for the new warehouse. It's close to Interstates 80 and 81 and a railroad.

The warehouse is also in a Keystone Opportunity Zone. That means lower taxes for the business that's bringing more jobs to our area.
