Williamsport, Lycoming County-

The Lycoming County SPCA has launched its first annual fundraising drive.

Directors say county budget cutbacks and slumping economic conditions have put them in quite a hole. And it's happening at a time when they say there is more and more need for their services.

The “2010 in 2010” campaign is built around the concept of getting 2,010 people to donate at least $10 to the SPCA this year.

Executive Director Vickie Stryker noted, "It’s amazing what $10 can do. It can give us the inoculations for an animal to protect them from disease. It can give us a day's worth of care. It can also help us with our investigations department; buy us a couple gallons of gas for the vehicles."

If the SPCA’s “2010 in 2010” campaign is successful, it will bring them more than $20,000 toward their animal care mission.
