3 Cops Dead in Pittsburgh Shootout - Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 6:43PM EST

PITTSBURGH- A barrage of bullets rings out in a Pittsburgh housing development killing three police officers and critically injuring two others.
Those officers were responding to a domestic dispute Saturday morning when a hail of gunfire was unleashed. Investigators say two of the three officers who were killed were shot in the head at the doorway of the house.

The 23-year-old suspect barricaded himself inside that house and held police at bay for hours before he was taken into custody.

One witness reported hearing hundreds of shots and officers at the scene were shocked by what they heard. Police say they've responded to calls at the same home two or three times before today's deadly incident.
