Throughout our area, preparations are underway to celebrate our nation's birthday.

In Wilkes-Barre, crews are preparing for an annual old fashion 4th of July celebration on Saturday. 20,000 people are expected to visit Kirby Park and the new River Common.

There will be plenty of fun, food and rides and of course, fireworks.

We found workers cleaning up the park and spreading the 4th of July spirit across the Market Street Bridge.
