She helped her family escape a burning home and Friday she was honored as a hero.

Alexis Guy is a 5th grader at the Greater Nanticoke Area Elementary School.

Guy received a Rotary Club award for standing up when her family's life was on the line.

Her dad Robert Guy puts it in perspective said, "It's an awesome thing. She's our hero."

The Guy families Main Street apartment was destroyed in Nanticoke one January 24 th .

Alexis woke everyone up that Sunday morning when she saw smoke. mily got out safe.

After receiving the award, Alexis told us, "It feels good because I don't know a lot of the students, but the meaning, they appreciate what I did. I like that."

The Guy's have a new house in Nanticoke , they just moved in this week.
