WEST SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Sunday was a big night for Roman Catholics in Lackawanna County. The annual novena to St. Ann wrapped up with a final mass at St. Ann's Basilica in West Scranton.

Hundreds of people from near and far filled the basilica Sunday night for the final mass of the annual novena.

Sunday marked the Feast of St. Ann, who's considered the grandmother of Jesus. For most this is a solemn time of prayer and devotion.

Some people come on the last day for specific reasons. Others come because itŐs tradition.

Bishop Joseph Martino celebrated the final mass at this year's novena. It capped nine days of celebration.

This year marks the 85th year for the annual novena. Organizers say the weather worked in their favor this year as opposed to years in the past.
