WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- A Wilkes-Barre family is hoping WBRE viewers can help them this holiday season. It appears a nine-week-old Jack Russell Terrier is missing, or is he? Little Jack's owners suspect foul play.

The story begins with a family looking for an early Christmas gift. Enter a lovable, cuddly puppy named "Jack."

"I was telling my husband, Jack wants to come home, Jack wants to come home. I named him before I bought him," Tania Shortz said.

The Shortz family purchased Jack at a local pet store and had him for only a few weeks.

Things changed on Wednesday, shortly after lunch.

"So I let them out to do their business and about five to ten minutes later, my bigger dog started barking," Shortz said. That was Reilly barking, and sent the 22-year-old out to check on both of the dogs. She says Reilly came right in, but there was no Jack.

Tania Shortz says the gate leading to the yard was definitely closed and there was no way Jack could have escaped. She says she believes in her heart, someone stole Jack and believes her family is the victim of a Scrooge.

Jack was last seen on Wednesday, December 12 around noon on Pershing Street in Wilkes-Barre.
