MOOSIC, LACAKWANNA COUNTY- Right field was dry enough to play ball Monday night. The portion of field had been waterlogged all weekend, forcing the Yankees to cancel two games at the height of the summer season, Independence Day weekend.

A doubleheader against the PawSox went off without a hitch. Fans, some who were turned away this weekend, said they hoped stadium managers had a plan in place to address future issues with the field's surface.

On Monday, team leaders acknowledged an "inadequate" draining system underneath the sod playing field was to blame for the sitting water.

Executives went the distance, renting a helicopter on Sunday to help dry things out. We're told the playing surface will be monitored and decisions will be made one day in advance on if the field is suitable for play.
