A Christmas Song for The Poconos
A Christmas Song for The Poconos - Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 3:36PM EST
SNYDERSVILLE - People who are filled with the Christmas spirit all year long produced a charity song.
It's a Christmas carol for the Poconos.
It's a love note to the special places and the people who live there.
"Christmastime in the Poconos" is a gift from the heart that will help give gifts to foster children in Monroe County.
"It's born for my love for this area and being from this area," said writer Bryan Schmidt. He started writing the song several years ago but he never found the Christmas magic he needed until he brought it to a Santa Clause of the music industry - Gary Wehrkamp.
"It never really had any life until I brought it to Gary's attention," he explained.
Gary produced and played most of the instruments for the song and helped organize dozens of volunteers and singers for the project, including some of the kids who will benefit.
Gary said, "It's been enormous how many people have been able to help us and how it's grown. It's spreading like wildfire and we can only hope that continues."
Gary and Bryan have formed a group called the Wishmakers. They hope to grant wishes for the community every year from now on.
The song cost ten dollars. You can download it at . Or you can pick it up at these Monroe County stores:
