WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY - An accused double murderer headed off a trial by pleading guilty Tuesday morning.

26-year-old Brandon McClendon of Hazleton pleaded guilty to 3rd degree murder in connection with the shooting deaths of 2 men.

Investigators say McClendon shot and killed 24-year-old Jason Dixon and 37-year-old Eugene Henry.

It happened after an argument during the early morning hours of July 30, 2007 at the corner of East Seventh and Carson Streets in Hazleton.

McClendon entered the plea the same day his death penalty murder trial was set to begin.

McClendon faces 20-to-40 years in prison for each murder when he is sentenced October 29th.
