BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY -- Helping senior citizens with their grocery needs was the purpose of a special visit in Susquehanna County.
Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding made a stop at the Trehab Community Action Agency Monday. The agency provides monthly food bags for seniors and those in need.
Those who depend on supplemental foods received a little extra food today. Redding says there's no doubt the program is making a difference.
And he says programs like these need to be expanded here and across the commonwealth. There's an overwhelming demand for it. We were fortunate this past year to expand it nearly 125 percent, keeping in mind even with that -- we're really only touching 32,000 seniors statewide," he said.
Many of the seniors we talked to say the program is very important to them. | |
