SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Local, state and federal emergency responders conducted anti-terrorist training at the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant Wednesday morning.
The exercise simulated a terrorist bomb attack at the factory which is operated by General Dynamics Corporation. The factory manufactures military artillery shells.
The scenario envisioned a truck loaded with explosives crashing into a gate and exploding and a secondary explosive device which was thrown into the street in front of Scranton Police Headquarters. After emergency responders secured the building the secondary device was detonated under controlled conditions.
Scranton police, fire and ambulance units joined Lackawanna County Emergency Response Teams, the FBI and the National Park Service in the training exercise.
