SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

Neighborhood Housing Services in Scranton has received $93,000 in federal funding for an expanded campaign to reduce home mortgage foreclosures in the area.

A prime feature of the program involves counseling services which are available to families who may be at risk.

Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D) said 'Far too many families facing the threat of losing their homes to foreclosure are afraid to reach out for help. but housing counselors, like those at Neighborhood Housing Services, are available and want to help families to stay in their homes.

U. S. Senator Bob Casey said 'The mortgate crisis is threatening the American Dream for too many Pennsylvanians and our economy is suffering." Senator Casey said its important for anyone facing mortgage problems to ask for help and to do it quickly.
