Airport Delays at Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport - Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at 1:05PM EST

AVOCA, LUZERNE COUNTY – Snow plows were the only activity at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport early Wednesday morning. Planes there were idle, along with some hopeful flyers waiting indoors.

Cheyne Wago was waiting to fly to Hawaii since 4 a. m.

“The most frustrating thing is no one telling us anything. There were no agents telling us flights were delayed,” Wago said.

Jim and Carol Lauer’s daughter came home to visit.

She drove up from South Carolina during Friday’s snow storm. Now she’s stuck here because of the ice.

“She can’t wait to get back to the warm weather. She said, ‘Mom, I can’t take this anymore!” Carol Lauer laughed.

T he airport runway re-opened just after 8:30 in the morning.
