Airport Emergency Training - Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 10:01PM EST
Thursday, Jul 24, 2008 @ 10:01pm EST
AVOCA, LUZERNE COUNTY- Some intense training is underway at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport Thursday night.
It's all aimed at making sure crews are prepared in case of an emergency.
Airport employees and local fire departments are taking part in three days of training.
On Thursday the crews tested their skills on a simulated airplane crash.
Its called the Kellogg Fire Training simulator.
The FAA mandates this type of training every year.
"Well the reasoning is to make sure our men are familiar with an aircraft while its on fire." says George Bieber the Airport's Public Safety Director, And additionally we reach out to our volunteer fire companies that help us in case we did have an incident here. And they send their members to school. We'll train 90 people"
The training will continue at the airport through Saturday. | |
