NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY- A man accused of kidnapping and assault nearly 2-weeks ago is now in custody. Joseph Eckrote, the man police say kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, has surrendered himself to authorities at District Magistrate Whittaker's office in Nanticoke.

State Police say Eckrote has been on the run since May 17th after he allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend Cora Blackwell from her West Main Street home.

State Police searched the Plymouth Flats area by land, air and ATV for hours after the kidnapping. She managed to free herself from Eckrote before he took off in her car and dumped it in a nearby field. After 11-days on the run, police say Eckrote will face charges.
