Pottsville, Schuylkill County- The resources of the American Red Cross of Schuylkill and east Northumberland counties have been drained. Since Thanksgiving, the folks with the regional Red Cross have responded to a total of 10 incidents.

Workers say they're used to taking on extra volume during the holidays, but this year, they're slammed providing food, clothing, shelter and basic necessities.

Janet Curtis with the American Red Cross said, “It’s consumed over 20 percent of our budget just since Thanksgiving.”

And they're in financial trouble. Red Cross managers say they always need volunteers to help out. If you'd like to lend a hand, please contact the American Red Cross at 570-622-9550.
