DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- The Lackawanna County District Attorney's Office expects to reach about 1,500 high school seniors and juniors at its annual Prom/Graduation Fair.
This is the 9th year for the event which is aimed at keeping kids away from drinking and drug use at or near school proms or graduation parties. Students from high schools throughout Lackawanna County are invited to the Fair which is held at Genetti's in Dickson City.
Karissa Scullion of Scott Township agreed to speak at this year's fair. Ms. Scullion was involved in a drunk driving accident that claimed the life of her boyfriend, William Puntar, last August. She was driving as they returned from a wedding rehearsal party for Puntar's sister. Her blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit in Pennsylvania. Puntar said, "I no longer have the man that I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with."
She said she is hoping her story will make an impact on the students who hear it at the fair and that it will steer them away from drinking and driving.
