SCRANTON , LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Scranton firefighters had their hands full overnight. They were first called to a house in the 1300 block of west Locust Street . A double block was damaged in that blaze and a city police car was stationed outside the house overnight. Then, early this morning, firemen were called to 26 Throop Street in north

Scranton .

Fire broke out in the rear of that house and the home owner, Olga Kropa, was inside when the blaze was discovered by a neighbor. We talked with Mrs. Kropa's son Richard. "Our next door neighbor, Marie McShankis heard some rustling outside and she was thinking skunks got into the garbage so she went to the window and saw flames at that point. She quickly called 911 and then ran next door to wake my mom up by banging on the door. My mom, further got up and came outside and she saw that there was fire, got in her car and moved the car out of the driveway And, basically, she was woken by a good neighbor."

The fires follow a two alarm blaze Wednesday that destroyed a garage and damaged the exterior of a vacant house. That fire has already been ruled a case of arson in

Scranton .
