EDWARDSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY - Police have made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting Sunday morning outside a bar on Main Street in Edwardsville.
Clad in hospital clothes, Andrew Woodham was led into his arraignment Sunday night. The 27-year-old faces murder charges for allegedly shooting two women outside the Glass Bar in Edwardsville. One of the victims, Sabrina Cordy died.
"This is basically senseless violence for absolutely no reason. Multiple shots. Multiple victims. A complete disregard for the value of any human life," Assistant District Attorney Michael Vough said.
Investigators think the deadly shooting was prompted by a fight inside the bar. They say Woodham's girlfriend was hurt.
"It looks like the fight precipitated between the defendent's girlfriend and one of the victims and it was about a previous altercation about two months earlier," Vough said.
Besides Sabrina Cordy who was killed, police say Melba Cruz was shot several times while she sat in a minivan. In all, between five and ten shots were fired. Investigators credit good police work for making a quick arrest.
Sunday's violence is the second deadly shooting at the Glass Bar in three months. In December, 24-year-old Eric Cusaac was shot and killed inside the bar's bathroom. Investigators say they've been trying to revoke the bar's liquor license and plan to discuss the issue again Monday morning.
"His license was suspended but he did appeal it and under Pennsylvania law, once you appeal the suspension, you can remain open, but we're going to look into a nuisance bar filing to close the Glass Bar down," Vough said.
Woodham is locked-up without bail. He faces a preliminary hearing in early March. | | |
