RUSH TWP., SCHUYLKILL COUNTY- The I-Team is looking into complaints that speed traps near Tamaqua are not being set up correctly, and that people are receiving speeding tickets they don't deserve.
Lead I-Team Investigator Andy Mehalshick spoke with a man who received a citation along Route 309 in Rush Township. The man looked into the device there that measures whether or not a driver is speeding.
He says the numbers don't add up. Dave Schuetrumpf said, "My big concern is all the people receiving citations that are within the limit of the law don't deserve the citation. They don't know how the device works. They assume they were speeding and they pay the ticket and the municipality gets the money."
The Rush Township Police Department tells us they'll double check their speed timing system, but they're confident it's accurate. | |
