PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY- There is some good news for a Luzerne County library that was hit hard by floodwaters last November.

A $36,000 federal grant has been giving to the Pittston Memorial Library to help rebuild it. :ast November flood waters destroyed a culvert under the parking lot sending 5 feet of flood water rushing through the library’s basement. Books, DVD's and children's programs were destroyed by the water.

Library officials hope to build it back like new and this Federal Emergency Management Agency grant will help do that.

Pittston Memorial Library Director Melissa Szafran Jones explained “It's been an up and down roller coaster ride for us this last year. But it's nice to know we'll finally get back to normal."

A new computer room and kids room have been built since the flooding. Officials hope to renovate the basement and replace destroyed books by next summer.
