TOBYHANNA - As a manager at Tobyhanna Army Depot Edward George is always looking for ways to help his crew work better and faster.

"I know what these - you know - the soldiers what they have to work with and stuff like that - get them back the gear in a quick and timely manner," he said.

He has several friends and co workers in Iraq and Afghanistan now. They motivate him and many of the other workers here.

"It's not just something that's being sold on the street, this is going back and supporting our country so it's very important," he said.

Edward's department finishes equipment. They sand and clean equipment after it's repaired. But sometimes things get crowded and backed up in here. So the crew happy to see Senator Arlen Specter visit the Army Depot Thursday.

He told workers there,"The work that you do is really outstanding."

The Senator announced 15 million dollars in federal funding will help build a brand new finishing center.

He said, "I'd like to take credit for it but the credit belongs to these professionals. The work you have done has earned the 15 million."

The 78-thousand-square foot center will add new modern features. It will streamline operations and allow workers to finish more equipment faster.

Construction should begin next April and Edward can't wait to move into his new work space.
