T he US Army 362nd military police detachment is getting ready to deploy for operation Iraqi freedom.

Behind every soldier is a strong family.

At the 362nd Miliatary Police detachment's farwell ceremony in Nanticoke, both soldiers and family stood strong together.

Debbie Masser of Williamsport said, "It's very emotional but it's very proud at the same time, very proud."

Masser is saying goodbye to her son for now.

He's in the 362nd which is headed to iraq for a one year deployment.

29 soldiers will head overseas and they were all honored at this ceremony.

Lisa Barber of Richmond, Virgina has a son in the 362nd.

Barber said, "It's kind of surreal but I'm very proud. My son knows very well what his job is and he's looking forward to doing what he needs to do. he's ready."

Barber is just one of many family members who stood and clapped, then hugged and smiled.

These soldiers are military police officers, which typically provide security in and around army bases abroad.

General John Cornelius of the 800th military police brigade said, "It's great to have the family here, it's the last goodbye for a while."
