Arrest Made in Home Invasion Beating of Elderly Couple - Monday, April 6, 2009 at 6:02PM EST
HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY- An arrest has been made in a brutal home invasion. It’s a crime that shocked a community. Now police are searching for a second suspect.
Daniel Pinkney appeared in district court in Hazleton Monday. He is accused of beating Nick and Martha Caputo inside their Hazleton home last November 15th. He insists they've got the wrong man.
Police are now looking for Anthony Cangiano, who they say was wearing a mask during the attack.
Police got a big break in the case. A niece of the Caputos got an e-mail from a friend who said he knew who did the crime. He contacted her because he liked the Caputo family. But he was afraid of being hurt.
Investigators say they have witnesses and physical evidence that place both men inside the Caputo home.
For neighbors the arrests gives them some piece of mind. Audrey Umbriac said, "I'm happy it finally happened. This neighborhood is terrible. I feel like packing my bags if I could. They’re older people, what could they have done to anybody?" | |
