PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY -- A Wilkes-Barre Area School District teacher faces assault charges after police say she broke into an apartment and started a fight.

It happened early Saturday morning in Plains Township at an apartment on Hollenback Street.

Police say 28-year-old Larissa Goldstein was drunk when she accused a next door neighbor couple of hiding her boyfriend. Officers say Goldstein yelled racial slurs at Fabian Thomas and struck Sherry Rizzo in the face.

Goldstein is free on bail. She has a hearing March 16th on charges including burglary, criminal trespass and simple assault.

She also faces disciplinary action from her job as an art teacher at Solomon-Plains Memorial Junior High School. Wilkes-Barre Area Superintendent Jeff Namey says Goldstein will be suspended beginning Monday.
