George Carson gunned down his step-son in Jackson Township last summer.

This morning, he received his sentence in Luzerne County court.

Carson was sentenced to at least 19 years.

As Carson was led out of the courthouse we asked, "We heard what you said in the courtroom, would you like to reiterate that for our viewers?”

Carson said, “No comment."

While Carson didn't say much on camera, in court he did speak to the judge and his family.

He said, "I'm sorry for my actions.”

He also said, "I want to apologize to my wife."

His apologies come after he shot his stepson six times.

It happened at a Sults brother's pre-wedding party in June, 2008 in Jackson Township .

Carson told police he shot Sult because he threw beer in his face.

Sults family didn't want to talk to us after sentencing.

Assistant district attorney Mike Vough said, "Mr. Sult was killed in front of his mother, in front his future sister in law and her family. They've handled themselves with the utmost grace and they're very satisfied with the sentence."

Carson 's lawyer Demetrius Fannick knows Carson is facing a virtual life sentence.

Fannick said, "My client's very disappointed. He was depressed going in so you can imagine, this is basically a life sentence for him. He's 73, he'll be 74 years old in a few weeks, so very disappointed."

Carson plans to appeal his sentence.
