DELAWARE WATER GAP, MONROE COUNTY -- A faulty cash register stopped a thief from getting money in an armed robbery late last night in the Poconos.

State police say a man tried to rob the Gulf Water Gap Mart on South Broad Street in Delaware Water Gap just after 10:00 P. M. Sunday. The robber was armed with a gun.

Troopers say he didn't get any money because the register would not open.

Anyone with information on the robbery is urged to call state police in Swiftwater.
