WILKES-BARRE -- Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of a child's life.

It's been estimated to occur in as many as 1in 500 individuals and with numbers increasing, so has the need for assistance for both parents and educators.

What help is provided by the state? The school system? What support organizations are there for parents? What about for teachers?
