ELMHURST, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- It's the unsolved murder of a baby 43 years ago in Lackawanna County. Wednesday investigators made the first step in taking another look at the cold case.

State police believe that dna evidence can solve this cold case and they went back to the baby looking for answers.

The baby's body was exhumed Wednesday at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery in Elmhurst. That's near Moscow.

The baby was strangled to death in May of 1965. The body was found in an outhouse in Thornhurst Township. It was wrapped in a sheet and there was a cloth belt wrapped around its neck. It was 1 to 3 days old and had been dead for at least several months.

Investigators removed the body from its unmarked grave and will send it to a forensics lab at the University of North Texas.

PSP Trooper Connie Devens said, "What we are trying to do with the exhumation is have forensic testing done, hopefully be able to identify the body and find the baby's age, race and sex."
