HARVEYS LAKE, LUZERNE COUNTY- The Back Mountain of Luzerne County is listed as the 20th best place for affordable homes in America. That’s in an article published in this month's Money magazine.

The writer says the median home price for 2007 was about $170,000. The median family income in the Back Mountain was listed at just under $79,000.

The article specifically talks about scenic Harveys Lake. Alice Deveiga of Harveys Lake said, "Oh it's a wonderful place to live I would rather not be any place but here but if I can afford it and get through the next several years, I'll be fine."

Dan Blaine "I think it's very good. I think it's wonderful for Luzerne County and the Back Mountain, and it's nice publicity."

But David Krashicevic of Dallas isn’t so sure. “I don't know how accurate that is. I do believe that the Back Mountain is a very expensive place to live, tax reassessment has shown that. I think the average price of a home is a little higher than that. It has a nice quality of living, there's no doubt about it. But I'm not quite sure how accurate that is," he said.

One of the reason's that man disagreed with the article is the home prices all seem to be calculated before this year's controversial tax reassessment.
