Bagging Groceries to Help Sick Little Boy
Bagging Groceries to Help Sick Little Boy - Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 6:00PM EST
WEST PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY- A little boy who's battling a rare blood disorder got a helping hand Sunday thanks to people in West Pittston and several members of the Eyewitness News team.
Volunteers bagged groceries for tips at the Gerrity's Supermarket. All of the money raised will go to benefit 17-month-old Liam Schulze.
Liam is battling a disease called HLH. It affects one in 200,000 kids and he's in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant.
Relative Carla Ferrara said, “I don't even know how to thank everybody for everything they've been doing. This donation situation here at Gerrity's is absolutely phenomenal."
Our Candice Kelly, Drew Speier and Joe Holden were guest baggers at the event. | |
