JERSEY SHORE, LYCOMING COUNTY- Police are on the scene of a bank robbery that happened this morning shortly before 11:00.

Police say a man who claimed he had a bomb strapped to his body entered Sovereign Bank on Allegheny Street and demanded cash from the teller.

Police shut down Allegheny Street and evacuated the area because a blue bag was found outside the bank. The bomb squad was on the scene early this afternoon trying to determine the bag's contents.

Police believe the robber fled in a stolen, dark colored van registered to a Williamsport owner.
