Behind The Scenes of The Office: Scranton Quiz

Behind The Scenes of The Office: Scranton Quiz - Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 10:30PM EST

VAN NUYS, CALIFORNIA --Tonight we begin a special series going behind the scenes of "The Office." The hit NBC sitcom has put Scranton on the map. But how much does the cast really know about the Electric City? Reporter Jeff Chirico back from Los Angeles where he toured the set.
The show goes to great lengths to use local references and each of the actors I interviewed have visited the city at some point. So they were fair game for my Scranton Quiz. “The Office” has made Scranton a household name. Kate Flannery says "I love Scranton. I've always loved Scranton." They talk about our fine city. Many of them have visited. Rainn Wilson says “The Office fans in Scranton are everybody. I went to Scranton and there was a woman with a breaking tank and a walker who was 97. I love The Office hrrr."

But what do they really know about the city their characters call home? '

“This is your Scranton Quiz to see how much you know about Scranton." Chirico asks “What is Nay Aug?"

Ed Helms says “Don't know. Wilson guesses “a giant oyster." Nunez guesses “A cousin to egg nog." Flannery finally guesses “It's the park. 0 for 1." Creed Bratton guesses “Nay Aug is the name of the giant mastiff that roams the streets at night terrorizes the people. I think you may be right."

Chirico asks “What's the mall in downtown Scranton? Leslie David Baker guesses “Downtown Scranton mall." Nunez tries to remember. “oh god. The steamship mall?" Brian Baumgartner gets it right. “Mall at Steamtown. 2 for 2."

Chirico asks “What food would you go to Old Forge for? Flannery says “I should know this. We had it in an episode." Oscar Nunez guesses "pretzels." Baker says “Chocolate if they have it." Flannery finally guesses “pizza. Yea. Good job."

Chirico asks “What's Scranton's nickname. Ahhhh" Baumgartner guesses The Electric City. Wilson and Helms joke “Stinkytown. Steamtown. Nunez guesses "The Electric City" Wilson and Helms joke "Tickville. Scum city. The energy. Something about energy. Electric city. Pow pow pow."
