PARADISE TOWNSHIP - Restaurants in the Poconos have a plan to bring in new customers that could save you some cash.

Janet Bailey enjoyed a rare treat Tuesday, lunch at a restaurant. She said, "We used to go out every week - it was a standard thing every Friday night was no cook night."

She said her last "no cook night" was at least six months ago. Like so many other people, she's been more careful with her money recently. But she does treat herself once in a while. Tuesday she stopped into Big Daddy's Restaurant in Paradise Township.

Big Daddy's manager Steve Ertle said many Pocono restaurants are slow. Gas prices and a sluggish economy are partly to blame but there's another problem, Pocono Restaurants depend on tourists and you don't see many of them in the spring.

Ertle said, "We want to say- hey - there's a lot of good restaurants that haven't raised their prices - that have held."

To bring in more customers, Ertle decided to get involved in a magazine promotion. Local Flair put together "Restaurant Week." All this week you can vote for your favorite Pocono restaurants. When you vote you get a discount card for 10% off at nearly thirty places.

Winners will be published in Local Flair and Ertle thinks the attention will create a buzz that could help the struggling restaurant industry taste some profits.
