LAKE HARMONY, CARBON COUNTY –
Big Boulder Ski Resort in the Pocono’s records its earliest date for opening, Saturday, being the first ski resort to open for business in Pennsylvania.
Big Boulder’s snowmaking system was fired up earlier this week and the mountain came alive with skiers and snowboarders Saturday.
Jessica Boyd, of Big Boulder Ski Resort tells us, “The snow conditions are great. It's like powder out there and seems like everyone is having a great time."
Thanksgiving has been the traditional early target date for the competitive ski industry in the northeast, but according to the huge number of skiers, the sooner, the better.
Some skiers came from as far as Ohio to ski.
Weather permitting the entire mountain will open within a week. | | |
