Williamsport, Lycoming County-

The city of Williamsport is ready to celebrate the season by bringing back some old traditions. Now we’re showing you what's in the works as the holidays approach.

They've decked City Hall in red and green as Billtown prepares to spread some holiday cheer. Organizers tell us Friday night's downtown parade on Fourth Street will be one of the most spectacular in recent memory.

Parade Organizer Bonnie Katz noted, "It's a happy time of year. You know it brings back memories for all of us. And it just incorporates everything, between the trees, the lights, the kids, everything."

The parade starts at 6:30PM. Immediately afterward, officials will hit the lights on a massive Christmas tree across the street from City Hall. Workers were putting the finishing touches on the tree Wednesday afternoon.

And after several years of absence, Williamsport's Santa House is making a comeback this holiday season. It's a place families can enjoy together, for free.

John Markley's father built the Santa House more than 30 years ago.

Markley explained, "Santa Claus will be sitting in a chair, then they'll come in and have pictures taken, visit Santa Claus, have his wish list for the kids at Christmas time, and then the next person comes on in."

Don't forget your cameras. Helpers hope this year's holiday celebration will put a smile on everyone's face.

Markley said, "Williamsport's a beautiful city. It's a clean city. Our hearts and souls go into this city and I think that's why my father built this thing back in the early 1970's."

Katz added, "Just to bring people downtown. To know that Williamsport is alive and vibrant, that it's a lot of fun, it's safe, and it's just a great town."

In case of nasty weather, Williamsport's holiday parade will be moved to Saturday, November 22nd, at 6:30PM.
