Blaze Damages Williamsport Building
Blaze Damages Williamsport Building - Friday, April 3, 2009 at 5:15PM EST
Williamsport, Lycoming County-
A 3-alarm fire at a three-story Williamsport building forced more than a dozen evacuations.
The fire broke out shortly after 10AM in a building at 11 West Fourth Street.
Billowing smoke poured from the scene.
The building housed three businesses and five apartments.
We're told as many as 20 people had to evacuate. No one was hurt.
The fire chief believes the flames started on the second floor.
The apartments took on most of the fire damage. A sub shop, a Thai restaurant, and a hearing aid business took on smoke and water damage.
Firefighters had the blaze under control in about half an hour, but remained for some time cleaning up the scene.
A city fire inspector is investigating the cause of Friday morning's blaze. | |
