BEAR CREEK TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY- Rescue crews were out on the water Sunday in Luzerne County. They were called out to rescue a father and son in Bear Creek Township.

It all happened around 2:00 P. M. at the Francis Walter Dam. Steven Jones and his 8-year-old son Hunter were on a fishing trip. They stopped for lunch then tried to head back to shore.

That's when Jones says the wind kicked up and put them in danger. "The wind kept pushing us toward the shoreline and a cliff. Francis Walter Dam is a cliff. So I tried going into the wind, but I couldn't keep the canoe straight. We hit swells, turned sideways, and flipped," he said.

Jones used a whistle to call for help. Fortunately Jones and his son were both wearing life jackets -- and neither of them was injured.
