SCHUYLKILL HAVEN- He died 22 years ago and today State Police took steps to find out why. 13-year-old David Reed's body was found in the woods outside Schuylkill Haven in 1985.

Today investigators exhumed his body. State Police say it's the first step in changing his cause of death from unknown to homicide. State police exhumed his body at the Schuylkill Park Memorial Cemetery. It took about two hours and members of Reed's extended family were there.

Investigators won't say exactly what led them to this decision. They will say new technology will help determine that Reed was murdered. Schuylkill Haven State Police Station Commander Sergeant Craig Stine says, "It's very important that we solve the case. The case has never been considered a cold case, I think we made that very clear. It's just new non-scientific information has led us to this point."

Reed's remains will be taken to a lab in Florida. The new examination could take about a month.
