OLYPHANT, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- Investigators have confirmed that bones found in Olyphant over the weekend are human and belong to a female.

The scene of the discovery is in Olyphant in a privately-owned reclaimed mining area off Marshwood Road. Police were summoned there Sunday afternoon after some kids riding ATV's came upon the bones.

Police posted evidence markers over a pretty wide area where the bones were found. Lackawanna County's mobile command vehicle arrived at the scene to help in the investigation.

On Monday investigators used a helicopter to spot evidence while other police combed the ground.

Police have also released a photograph of a man's watch found in the area.
