KUNKLETOWN, MONROE COUNTY -- Daisy Sherman has the disorder known as EB, which causes blistering and shearing of the skin.

Eric Duffield lives in the United Kingdom and first heard about EB from a documentary and book, "Jonny Kennedy: The story of the boy whose skin fell off." The story changed his life, and now he's trying to change the lives of others.

"I gave up my full-time job to concentrate on raising funds and awareness in the U. K.," said Duffield. "And I want to spread it across Europe and the United States."

He's friends with the book's author, and the two decided 50 percent of the proceeds made by book sales in the U. S. would go to Daisy Sherman and her family.

"We can't take the pain away from the children, but we can take them away from the pain," said Duffield, who also raises money to send families dealing with EB on vacation.

"Thank you doesn't cover it, but we thank everyone very much for their time and help," said Dana Sherman, Daisy's mother. "It's extending our daughter's life and quality of life."

Volunteers are currently building a sterile bandage room and bathroom for Daisy.
