According to published reports, the locally-based chain is up for sale and filed for bankruptcy.

A little more than a week ago a New York newspaper reported that Boscov's was unable to pay suppliers for merchandise. Boscov's executives denied that report however today the company filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection and is up for sale.

There's no word on what that could mean for the company's stores in this region. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
