DURYEA, LUZERNE COUNTY-
Everyday hundreds, if not thousands drive across a
Luzerne
County bridge in need of major repairs. The Coxton Road Bridge is in bad shape and the repairs will last through the end of the summer. An alternate route has been put in place until it is done. Penn-dot crews set up signs on the Coxton Road Bridge Thursday morning. Workers will repair deteriorating walls and replace the guide rail attachment. Penn-dot recommends a 23-mile detour on state roads, but Mayor Moss says there's a much more direct way for local traffic using Stephenson Street back onto Coxton Road. Duryea officials say they're also working with Penn-dot crews on a new 12 year access road plan at the intersection of Main and Coxton road.
