Lewisburg, Union County-

They say that beauty comes in many varieties and one lucky Bucknell senior certainly fits the bill.

Kate Matelan, of Emmaus, was recently crowned Ms. Wheelchair U. S.A.

She competed with a platform addressing disability issues on college campuses.

Matelan is active in a variety of clubs at Bucknell and hopes to serve as a role model for other people with disabilities.

Kate explained, "I just really hope that my message can inspire others to really go out there and go to college, or achieve their goals, and not let their disabilities stand in the way of what they want to accomplish."

Matelan will travel to college campuses around the country this year addressing disability issues in higher education.

She plans to go on to graduate school in New York City following her senior year at Bucknell.
