Lewisburg, Union County-

Fraternity and sorority members at Bucknell University are making a positive impact in the community.

As part of their Million Penny Project, Bucknell’s Greek organizations came together to raise $10,000.

The money is being donated to the Hand-Up Foundation, a faith-based non-profit group in Milton.

Bucknell junior Scott Shapiro said, “It’s obviously very fulfilling. It’s definitely a lot of work and hopefully it’s going to pay off when we present the check to them. And we’ll see some effect in the next year or two of the money we give.”

Students raised the money through a variety of fundraisers on campus, as well as donations from local businesses.

This is the 10th year Bucknell’s Greek organizations have participated in the Million Penny Project.
